Structure of the PADI Divemaster Course

Longtail boat in Koh TaoAt Simple Life, the duration of the PADI Divemaster internship is flexible, ranging from a couple of weeks through to several months - up to you. DM Training involves three parts:

• Exper level scuba diving theory

• Scuba skills and 'watermanship' exercises

• A practical internship where you join the Simple Life Dive Crew, assisting with real customers.

PADI Divemaster theory covers all important topics including physics, physiology, decompression theory, scuba divign equipment and other related concepts. These topics will be taught in classroom session with plenty of time to study in advance. Information is delivered through reading / self study, through lots of practice questions and through interactive workshops with the experienced Simple Life instructors.

The in-water skills and stamina exercises include completing four swims [100m tired diver tow, 400m swim, 800m swim with mask, snorkel and fins and 15 float]. This is nothing to be concerned about - basic fitness is sufficient! You'll undertake an underwater problem solving exercise plus demonstrate instructor standard rescue skills.

The internship component of the PADI Divemaster Thailand course is the best part. As part of Simple Life's Koh Tao Divemaster program we include unlimited number diving for the duration of your training. Throughout the course you will be working with team of Divemasters and Instructors, taking care of certified divers on underwater tours and assisting in the dive training of new students.

We'll also run sessions focusing on underwater navigation, night diving, deep diving and buoyancy. You'll get to grips with the organizational side of running a dive shop – customer care, boat logistics, course scheduling etc. All things necessary to be employed as a Divemaster on Koh Tao or elsewhere.

You're welcome to use our shop rental equipment during the PADI Divemaster course, however, if you intend to stick around and work as a DM once you graduate, you'll want to buy your own set of scuba gear. Simple Life provides a selection of pro equipment packages at unbeatable rates - contact us for further details.
